If you are reading this post, it means you are trying to merge a separate subtitle file into you video and you came to the right place. This post will instruct you how to combine 2 separate files (video + subtitle) into one single file for better sharing or whatever the reason you have.
If you want to know how people are making subtitles easily, read this article to know how with Aegisub.Software: Portable version of MeGui for Windows (extract to use, no need to install)
Files you need for this project:
- Video file which you want to merge subtitle into
- Subtitle file
1/ Download MeGui software
2/ Extract downloaded zip file
3/ Execute MeGUI.exe (by double click onto it)
4/ Choose the original video file
Press the hotkeys Ctrl + R or follow the menu below (like in the image).
Tools > AVS Script Creator (see image below):
Now you are in the AVS Script Creator screen.
Click on the button highlighted to select the video file:Then select DirectShowSource when being asked:
5/ Choose subtitle file
You're still in AVS creator screen, select tab Filter and follow the instructions:
#2 is to select the subtitle file, then click on Save.
6/ Choose input audio file
Since MeGUI doesn't automatically load embedded audio data in the original video file, we need to assign an audio file for it to encode, otherwise the output video will have no sound at all. This has an advantage which enable you to replace the existing audio data in a video, or combine an audio file to a new video...
Select AutoEncode when you finish.
7/ Job execution
The program will ask you where to store the output file and under what name. You can manually change the output file size on this screen as well.
Select Queue to start the encoding job.
This is the screen in progress of the job, it will automatically close when finish encoding. And your final output file with both have audio and subtitle on top of it.
Good job! Have a nice day!
